Leading Derbyshire independent school appoints new Chair

One of the Midlands leading Independent schools, Derby Grammar School, has appointed Sarah Flear, chartered accountant and Partner here at Smith Cooper, as the new Chair of Governors.

Derby Grammar School is one of Derbyshire’s top performing independent day schools and provides an exceptional quality of education which allows pupils to flourish in a friendly environment.

Smith Cooper, one of the largest independently owned accountancy and business advisory firms for owner managed businesses across the Midlands, providing a range of professional services to clients operating in a variety of sectors.

In her role, Sarah principally oversees the Audit operations for all 6 offices across the Midlands, and also heads up the multi-capability academies team, providing compliance, assurance and advisory services to schools and academies, including external and internal audit, complimenting her appointment as Chair of Governors of Derby Grammar School.
