Smith Cooper’s Business Recovery and Insolvency division attended the TRI Awards in London last night, having been nominated for not one, but two distinguished awards – Insolvency Team of the Year, and Corporate Restructuring Firm of the Year, in recognition of the outstanding contributions they have made in the challenging field that is corporate rescue.
Unfortunately, Smith Cooper came away with neither award, but were up against international contenders and Big Four firms in the Insolvency team of the Year category, battling it out against KPMG, PwC, and Mazars to name a few, whilst also competing against six other nominees in the Corporate Restructuring Firm of the Year category.
To put into perspective, Smith Cooper was the only regional, Midlands based firm to be nominated in each category, showing great promise for the firm and other SME’s based in the region.
Dean Nelson, Partner in the Business Recovery and Insolvency division at Smith Cooper comments: “To be nominated amongst industry giants such as KPMG and PwC, two of the largest professional service networks in the world is a fantastic achievement in itself. Whilst we are disappointed to have not been named winners for either award, we were up against very tough competition, which just encourages us to continue striving for our goals and ensure we are the most proficient and efficient experts that we can be.”
He continues “Since establishing the Insolvency division in 2009, we have experienced immense growth, and have paid out millions in dividends to creditors. In the last year alone we have rescued 465 jobs and secured the recovery of many distressed organisations. Our BR&I department continues to gain more recognition year on year, both in the local marketplace and further afield.”
“I am immensely proud of the Business Recovery and Insolvency team here at Smith Cooper, and we will continue to strive for excellence in the service that we provide.”
