Recently, some of our clients have reported receiving calls which are aggressive in nature, demanding payment, whilst others have been targeted by more sophisticated scammers, who request sensitive employee data over the phone, followed up with an email.
We encourage everyone to exercise extra caution around this time of year in particular and be extremely vigilant, and we also recommend that you get in touch with HMRC themselves if you are unsure and would like to check the authenticity of any calls and/or emails that you receive. Always use the HMRC official website to check their contact information directly – do not contact HMRC using details provided over the phone.
If you would like any further advice about protecting yourself against fraudsters, please get in touch with us. We will be happy to provide further guidance and peace of mind. Similarly, please inform us at your earliest convenience if you believe you may have been targeted by scammers.
