Experience counts
Prior to joining the world of innovation incentives, I worked as a mechanical design engineer within the automotive and structural engineering sectors. I am an engineer at heart, which allows me to view a project through the eyes of my client and translate the work into robust technical reports.
Being from a commercial engineering background, I understand the value of innovation incentives and how they can support business growth and fuel innovation, meaning a transition into the industry was inevitable.
Since joining the industry, I have worked within a number specialist R&D practices and led the delivery of R&D claims as a technical lead for both SMEs and large corporate (RDEC) clients.
I have also successfully resolved several enquiries, giving me the necessary practical experience to combat the issues this may present. HMRC are now committing to open compliance checks on 20% of all R&D claims, which should not deter any organisation engaged in qualifying activity when seeking to access tax relief. Personally speaking
Outside of the office, I am likely to be found messing around with old American cars and motorbikes with my little boy. We enjoy vintage hot rod racing as a family which keeps us occupied, but when I am not doing that, I am quite a big rugby fan and play the odd veterans game here and there for my old club.
