Our charity golf day has raised £3,000 for our nominated charity of the year Alzheimer’s Society, with 14 businesses from across the Midlands coming together to show their support for people living with dementia.

Our charity golf day took place on Tuesday 12th September at Morley Hayes Golf Club in Derbyshire, featuring a golf tournament, breakfast, lunch and awards presentation.

The event was attended by golfers from our company, FHP Property Consultants, Nelsons, Blusource Legal, Don Amott Caravans Ltd, Shakespeare Martineau LLP, Micro-Mesh Engineering Ltd, PIB Insurance Brokers, Virgin Money, Available Car, Watling Real Estate, ThinCats, Natwest Midlands and PKF Smith Cooper Systems, with team Nelsons crowned champions of the tournament.

The golf day was the first of many fundraising events planned to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society over the next twelve months.

Dean Nelson, our Business Recovery and Insolvency Partner, led on the organisation of the day. He commented: “Our annual charity golf day is always a popular event with PKF Smith Cooper’s clients and associates, who enjoy getting together over a round of golf and raising money for a worthwhile cause. A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped us raise £3,000 – what a great start to our year of fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society!”

Alice Grewcock, Community Fundraiser at Alzheimer’s Society for Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, commented: “I want to say a huge thank you to PKF Smith Cooper for organising this charity golf day and for all the businesses who supported it!”

One in three people born today in the UK will develop dementia in their lifetime, making it the biggest health and social care challenge we face. The £3,000 raised will help Alzheimer’s Society to continue bringing help and hope to those affected by the condition.”

“We want everyone affected by dementia to know that whoever you are, whatever you’re going through, you can turn to Alzheimer’s Society for expert practical advice, emotional support, and guidance for the best next step.”
