I am a Partner in the dedicated business recovery and restructuring division of PKF Smith Cooper. I am a highly skilled insolvency practitioner and business adviser with over 25 years’ experience. I advise businesses and individuals who are experiencing financial difficulties in various sectors, including manufacturing and transport.

I offer candid, proactive advice to owner-managers or individuals of distressed and/or underperforming businesses on their current financial position and available options.

Experience counts

I am a licensed insolvency practitioner and a member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, also known as R3 (Rescue, Recovery, Renewal). I qualified in March 2006 and became an appointment taker in February 2008.

Prior to joining PKF Smith Cooper, I worked for a well-known East Midlands accountancy practice, where I spent 18 years working on all aspects of assignments within the business recovery arena.

I pride myself on ‘getting in to advise early’ where viable options still remain in order to maximise and protect stakeholder value and preserve employment.

Since joining the dedicated business recovery and restructuring division of PKF Smith Cooper in 2009, I have assisted many companies and individuals both locally and nationally, and have saved many businesses either by restructuring them, refinancing them or achieving a sale of their business and/or assets as a going concern. I have also acted as liquidator of a football club in the local area.

Deeper knowledge

I have experience in working with businesses in a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, retail, franchises, leisure, training, engineering, clothing, food, printing and packaging, transport, IT, and waste management.

This has enabled me to act responsively to protect and maximise stakeholder value and to think ‘outside the box’ to deliver strategies that protect and preserve, instead of diminishing value. I have an experienced team around me and intermediaries that I rely on to assist me in project-managing the process, while remaining conscious as to the strain and difficulties that various owner-managers and individuals find themselves under when cash and options appear limited.

Personally speaking

I enjoy having fun and spending time with my family and friends, and I enjoy all kinds of sport, playing both golf and football.
