Our annual charity golf day, in aid of The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance took place on Thursday 26th September at Morley Hayes Golf Course, raising an outstanding total of £2,500.
The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance comments is one of the UK’s leading Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) Charities, funded purely by the generosity of the local public. The charity is not part of the NHS and not funded by the Government. At a time when every second counts, the arrival of their iconic yellow helicopter really can mean the difference between life and death.
Transporting the equivalent of an entire A&E department to people suffering from the most serious of illnesses and devastating injuries, the Air Ambulance provides the best possible treatment as quickly as possible.
Tanya Taylor, Corporate Development Fundraiser at the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance comments “To have been selected as Smith Cooper’s charity of the year is fantastic. Fundraising like this is our lifeline. It is essential to helping us save lives every single day, and without it we simply wouldn’t be able to provide the lifeline that we do.”
“Our aspiration is to become a 24-hour service, provided 7 days a week, but this comes at a huge cost. To illustrate, it takes approximately £2500 to fund just one potentially life-saving mission.”
“We are overwhelmed by the amount raised.”
Dean Nelson, Partner at Smith Cooper comments “Year upon year we are always astounded by the tremendous support that we receive from those who take part in our annual charity golf day. There’s absolutely no way we could have raised such a sum without each and every one of our guests, and both we and the Air Ambulance are extremely grateful.”
The charity golf day saw professionals from across the Midlands participate including teams from Nelsons Solicitors, Barclays, Coates and Partners and more.
The winners of the Texas Scramble tournament were James Delve, James Reid, Luke Gibbons and Alex Delve, with a very respectable score of 58.5.
The day involved a charity raffle featuring fantastic gifts donated by local companies and sponsors including Derby County Football Club, HUUB and Pieminister, as well as the Ace Golf Challenge, where guests had the chance to win £1,000 for getting a hole-in-one.
We conduct several charitable events throughout the year, having previously raised money for Treetops Hospice, Appeal 4 Alfie and the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline.
