Representatives from Smith Cooper were in Prague from 9th-11th May for the Alliott Group 2018 Europe, Middle East & Africa Regional Conference.
With a growing number of our clients requiring advice on how to take advantage of the investment and growth opportunities offered by the global economy, membership of Alliott Group is an important part of our firm’s international strategy, and conferences such as this always prove invaluable.
Themed ‘Building a Future-Proof Professional Firm’, the conference, hosted by leading international alliance Alliott Group, was attended by some 90 accountants and lawyers from 31 countries worldwide.
Participation in the conference enabled us to forge closer relationships with Alliott Group affiliated members who will serve our clients internationally when required. It also provided powerful insights into the professional services market, which is changing at an unprecedented pace and into the key business trends which are likely to impact our clients within the next 1-5 years.
The learning and exchange that occurred during the conference has helped our firm to future-proof client services, and to establish a more visible employer brand that ensures the firm can compete for the brightest and most talented people in our local workforce.
Stephen Newman, Head of Audit and Accounts for our Birmingham office, comments: “While we are acutely aware of the need to meet the evolving needs of our clients, leading consultants from the world of business shared tips on how we can offer our clients a more collaborative approach and more commercially focused advice.”
Business improvement topics at the conference included how to become the ‘go-to’ firm in a local market, how to attract and retain the best people and how to develop the inner sales leader and motivator within.
Alliott Group’s special interest group meetings ensured our firm’s representatives gained practical insights into compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the impact of U.S. tax reform on foreign nationals and businesses, the international M&A landscape, and the seismic changes taking place in international tax and how they impact internationally focused businesses and high net worth individuals.
