We today announce that our group chairman, Andy Delve, is to step down from his role at the end of June.
Andy has dedicated 33 years to the firm, including almost 20 years as Managing Partner, and has undoubtedly moulded Smith Cooper into the organisation that it is today.
Andy commented: “I have enjoyed the past 33 years working to create a business that is synonymous with trust and integrity, and reputable in the local and national market place. I am leaving the Smith Cooper in the very capable hands of the Partner group, led by James Bagley as the Managing Partner.
“I am confident James’ leadership, the Partners and all of the staff will continue to bring Smith Cooper much success in the future.”
James added: “On behalf of the entire firm, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Andy for his years of service and dedication to Smith Cooper, his outstanding leadership during his 20 years as Managing Partner, and the continued support and guidance he has provided as Group Chairman.
Andy expertly guided Smith Cooper from a more compliance focused accountancy practice, to a multi-office, business advisory firm with four award-winning group companies.
Without question, Andy’s entrepreneurial vision and strong, courageous leadership created much of the Smith Cooper we know and value today, and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
In anticipation of Andy’s retirement, David Nelson has been appointed to the role of Senior Partner and in doing so will continue to work alongside James Bagley in the ongoing development and implementation of the firm’s strategic vision.
Over the past few years, Smith Cooper has celebrated 21% growth in 2015-16, 19% growth in 2016-17 and 24% growth in 2017-18 respectively, award wins including SME Advisory Team of the Year, ICAEW’s Medium Accountancy firm of the Year and a number of specialist service line specific accolades.
