Our annual charity golf day has raised vital funds for our charity of the year, Rainbows Hospice.  A total of 20 businesses from across the region came together to support the Midlands-based charity whose work brightens the lives of serious or terminally ill children and young adults.

The golf day is one of many fundraising efforts the firm has organised to raise money for Rainbows Hospice over the past nine months. Alongside golfers from the firm, guests from FHP Property Consultants, Nelsons, Brit Direct, Virgin Money, Embark Federation, Ultimate Finance, Eaton Syalon, Watling Real Estate, Howden Group and Macildowie Recruitment attended the event. Embark Federation were crowned champions of the tournament, taking a way a golf bag each.

The firm has raised funds for Rainbows Hospice throughout the year, with team members running the Robin Hood Half Marathon, completing a firewalk, and volunteering at the hospice in Loughborough.

Dean Nelson, Business Recovery and Restructuring Partner, who leads on organising the event annually, commented: “Thank you to all who attended our annual charity golf day this year, it was great to see 20 teams competing to come together for an excellent charity. The care Rainbows Hospice provides brightens the lives of seriously ill children and young people across the East Midlands, and it was great to raise £2,000 for such an honourable cause.”

Dean is also heavily involved in the annual Derbyshire Brain Game in aid of Marie Curie, which you can find more information about here.

Kirsty Coxon, Corporate Partnership Fundraiser at Rainbows Hospice, commented: “Thank you to PKF Smith Cooper for not only choosing Rainbows as their charity of the year but throwing themselves into their fundraising and taking Rainbows into their hearts. The golf day and their fundraising have not only helped to raise vital funds but also helped to raise much needed awareness for our service.”
