Ashbourne’s former police station, situated in the centre of the historic market town, has become the new home of accountants and business advisors, Smith Cooper, to facilitate their ongoing growth.

Formerly based on St John Street, in a building shared with law firm Flint Bishop, Smith Cooper are the official occupants of the old police station as from 3rd June 2019.

Permission to revamp the derelict building on Compton Street was granted in 2017, and since then extensive renovations have taken place, transforming the building into a mixture of both commercial and residential units, with Smith Cooper occupying the ground floor. The renovation has been sympathetic to the original, and blends with the town’s many historic buildings.

Bruce Montgomery, Partner at Smith Cooper and based at the firm’s Ashbourne office comments “It’s a really exciting period of change here in the Ashbourne branch as we look forward to settling into our new home and welcoming our clients through the door.”

“The new offices offer us the opportunity to expand our workforce whilst maintaining an enviable location in the centre of town. The space is fresh, modern and easily accessible to our clients. We are committed to our local area, and it was important that we moved to an office that allowed us to stay local.”

Smith Cooper’s Ashbourne office offers a range of general accountancy, tax and specialist services, particularly to those operating in the agricultural and landed estates sectors. With its headquarters in Derby in the historic St Helen’s House, Smith Cooper have offices in 6 localities across the Midlands and offer an extensive range of bespoke advisory services to both corporate and individual clients, wherever they may be based.
