Business Services Manager // Ashbourne

I am a Business Services Manager based in our Ashbourne office, which I joined in 2018, looking after a varied client base from sole traders through to large landed estates.

I prepare and review accounts for trusts, limited companies, partnerships and sole traders to ensure that filing and compliance deadlines are met.

With our landed estate clients, I maintain regular contact with the estate management and business services teams to provide support and ensure that queries are dealt with as they arise.

I have also assisted with switching a number of clients over to digital solutions such as Xero to fulfil their bookkeeping and accounting requirements, as well as satisfying MTD compliance.

Experience counts

I started out from a bookkeeping background, which then progressed through to audit teams whilst I was studying. I qualified as an accountant in 2012 at a firm in Derby and have experience in preparing accounts for a wide variety of entities from small sole traders through to groups of limited companies.

Since joining PKF Smith Cooper, I’ve taken more of a focus towards our landed estate & private client services.

Deeper knowledge

My particular area of expertise is the preparation of accounts which are compliant with the relevant accounting standards. I deal with a broad range of sectors including farming, leisure and tourism, manufacturing, and property lets.

As well as the preparation and review of accounts, I prepare a number of VAT returns which require partial exemption calculations to be completed.

I also have a good working knowledge of various accounts & bookkeeping packages including Sage, Xero, and Quickbooks.

Personally speaking

Outside of work I enjoy playing football as well as attending any kind of show involving cars and/or planes.

I also play the piano so whenever I’m not doing any the above, I’m trying to stay in practice.
