We are thrilled to announce that 16 new recruits, including 11 graduates, will be joining the firm by the end of September.
Smith Cooper has attracted graduates from key universities including Newcastle University, Nottingham Trent and Loughborough University to work in the Audit team across our key offices in Birmingham, Derby and Nottingham.

Sarah Flear, Partner and Head of Audit at Smith Cooper commented: “Smith Cooper is particularly committed to investing in aspiring young professionals within the local community, as to advance their careers as finance professionals, hence why nine of the new intakes are graduates, and a further two join as semi-seniors.

Whilst the majority of our new graduates are from local universities, a number of our intakes join us from universities further afield.

As such, we are proud our company and graduate scheme draws fresh talent to the Midlands and we’re very excited to welcome all our new starters to the firm.”

The senior tier of Smith Cooper has also welcomed several new recruits to further bolster their Midlands offering. The Derby office has appointed four senior professionals – Angela Bradley joins the team as an Account Manager, equipped with over 15 years of industry experience, Ryan Fayers joins as an Account Senior, moving from HSKS where he has worked since July 2014, Andrew Stevens joined the firm as Insolvency Director over summer, and most recently Martin Gadsby joined as a Business Services Partner.

James Bagley, Managing Partner at Smith Cooper commented: “It is our ethos at Smith Cooper that employees should be nurtured from within the company, and provided with ample opportunity to refine their skill set and carve a successful career through professional accreditations and in house training.

“We are committed to the continual investment in our team and strive to recruit the most proficient and expertly educated individuals. Our most recent appointments give us a significantly stronger team going forward, and provide us with the foundations to continue to grow the company. We are a progressive firm and are very excited about the new opportunities that a fresh approach can introduce.”

Over the past two years we have celebrated tangible staff growth figures, and turnover has exceeded the 8-figure mark for the first time in the firm’s history. We have also won several awards in the 2016/2017 period, including Midlands SME Advisory Team of the Year, East Midlands SME Deal of the Year and ICAEW Medium Accountancy Firm of The Year, and most recently has been shortlisted for the TRI awards and the Insider Dealmakers Midlands awards, winning the SME Deal of the year award again, attributable to the combined effort of our thriving Midlands team.

We are currently recruiting for our 2018 intake of graduate trainee accountants, with roles available in Nottingham, Derby and Birmingham. If you are interested in the opportunity to carve a successful career in the world of accountancy and would like to join our progressive team, click here.
