Two of our Partners will brave the ultimate leap on Wednesday 17th May with a charity skydive to raise money for Ilkeston children’s charity Ben’s Den.

David Nelson, Senior Partner, and Martin Gadsby, Accounts Partner, will both be tackling tandem skydives at Skydive Langar. We have organised the skydive as part of a year of fundraising for Ben’s Den, the charity nominated and voted for by our team as PKF Smith Cooper’s charity of the year, which has seen our offices from across the Midlands join forces to raise money for the cause.

Ben’s Den is a dedicated children’s charity in Ilkeston that offers invaluable support to families with children diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia, providing them with free holidays and precious quality time together at their fleet of five caravans in Mablethorpe and sixth caravan at Tattershall lakes in Sleaford.

Ben’s Den was set up by Tracey and Darren Parker in memory of their son Ben Parker, who sadly passed away in 2003 aged 13 following a battle with leukaemia. Cancer charity Young Lives vs Cancer and Haven holiday parks assist Ben’s Den in their work.

Martin Gadsby, Accounts Partner at PKF Smith Cooper, said: “The reality of the skydive is starting to kick in now but when I think of the cause that we are supporting it makes it a lot easier to put my nerves to one side. When the opportunity to support Ben’s Den and tick a skydive off your to-do list comes along, it’s something you have to go for!”

Tracey Darren from Ben’s Den commented: “We can’t believe the lengths, or heights, people go to in support of Ben’s Den! What a brave and thrilling thing to do. We hope David and Martin thoroughly enjoy the experience and we are very grateful for PKF Smith Cooper’s support in allowing us to provide more holidays with happy memories for children and families affected by cancer and leukaemia.”
