A Derby based Law firm, Bemrose Legal LLP, entered Liquidation on 6 March 2018, appointing Dean Nelson to deal with the residual business and its assets.

The business was established in 1936 as a high street law firm for the provision of legal services to Derby and its surrounding areas. From 1936 until 2013, the business traded as a traditional partnership under the name of Bemrose & Ling Solicitors. In November 2013, the business was re-branded and became a Limited Liability Partnership, thereafter trading as Bemrose Legal LLP.

A number of issues, including the increasing costs of business and changes in the legal services sector, which opened up the market for the provision of legal services by other service providers, has undoubtedly affected the business’ ability to offer legal services at price-competitive rates, and which in turn has adversely impacted on the level of new business, resulting in the firm’s downturn.

Dean Nelson, Head of Business Recovery and Insolvency at Smith Cooper comments “This is undoubtedly a difficult period for all involved with the firm, however we are now in the process of dealing with the LLP’s assets and will strive to achieve the maximum outcome for its creditors.”
