We are extremely proud to have raised over £10,000 for charitable causes over the last year, including our previous charity of the year Ben’s Den, and also supported a range of local initiatives through volunteering. This year we are looking forward to more firm-wide fundraising, with a specific focus on our new nominated charity Alzheimer’s Society.
Every year we ask our team to nominate causes for our charity of the year and vote for which they would like to support. This year our team chose Alzheimer’s Society, a cause with personal significance to several of our team members.
Through fundraising initiatives across our Midlands offices, we will be working together to raise money for life-changing dementia support and vital research into improving the care and treatment of people with dementia.
About Alzheimer’s Society
With 55 million people living with dementia worldwide, if you have not been affected by this devastating illness personally, you likely know someone who has.
Alzheimer’s Society is made up of people with dementia, carers, trusted experts, campaigners, researchers and clinicians, all brought together by a desire to combat the challenges faced by those living with the dementia.
The charity offers a range of dementia support services, including a support line, specialist dementia advisers and an online community for those affected by the illness. It also invests significantly in research, funding over 600 research projects into early diagnosis, care and treatment for dementia.
Upcoming fundraising events
Our team loves to put the fun in fundraising and we have a variety of firm-wide events lined up to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and other charities over the year ahead, with a charity golf day last month and Derbyshire Brain Game already completed.
Next month, men from across our company will be taking part in Movember to raise awareness of men’s health issues. As Christmas approaches, we will be hosting a Festive Bake Off and Yuletide quiz in all our offices as well as participating in Operation Christmas Child’s shoebox appeal.
After the Christmas festivities, we will be dusting off our walking boots to participate in the Alzheimer’s Society’s national walking challenge ‘Step Up for Dementia’.
